Trekking Toward Tenacity Releases Today!
After months of waiting, the time has finally come. My newest book Trekking Toward Tenacity is finally released into the world! So what is the book about? Well, I’m glad you asked.
Trekking Toward Tenacity is a guidebook for parents to help them coach their kids on how to have bounce-back-ability with their mental health and their faith. This book does have some heady moments in it, as we discuss things like the eternality of God and the kingdom of God. But, and this is an important but, every concept is boiled down into actionable steps for kids of any age. Each chapter has age-appropriate activities for six year olds and sixteen year olds.
We talk in this book about what it means to be truly seen by God. We discuss the impact of knowing we are beautifully made by God and that he calls us a masterpiece. We even talk about the powerful practice of lament and how offering our complaint prayers to God can actually be a way to enlarge our faith in God to show up.
I am so excited to be able to share this book with the world. Here’s what New York Times best-selling author Susy Flory had to say about it: “A wise and wonderful walk through Psalm 139, Trekking Toward Tenacity is the kind of book you'll want to read slowly, marking it up and letting it soak deep into your heart and soul. Both conversational and honest in his style, Chris weaves Scripture and spiritual wisdom throughout this warm and gentle book. I came away thinking this: "We are all disheveled souls, but God still loves us and there is always hope."”
She’s not the only one excited about what this book has to offer. Matt Tebbe, a pastor at The Table Indianapolis and coauthor of the tremendous book Having the Mind of Christ, had these kind words to offer about the book: “Chris offers us a unique gift in Trekking Towards Tenacity: part bible study, part meditation, part training for parents in how to form and shape the faith of their children. Many books do one or two of those well, but Chris skillfully leads the reader through all of them in a way for those of us raising kids to take our own spiritual formation seriously and grow in how we walk spiritually with our kids. This book is all about how to practically learn to live in God’s loving presence, putting both our spiritual and mental health front and center. Using Ps 139 as a guide, Chris walks us directly into the intersections of our life and helps us recover how to experience God’s presence, build mental and spiritual resiliency, and curate conversations with our kids about their life and faith. If you’re looking to strengthen your faith or gain a more creative imagination for how to shepherd your kids this is a fantastic resource.”
If you’re looking for a resource to help you coach your kids to be more resilient (and who isn’t nowadays), I think Trekking Toward Tenacity is the perfect choice for you. You can pick up the book at Amazon or wherever you find your books.
